Mr. Ally Edha Awadh is the Founder and Chairman of Lake Group. Born and raised in Tanzania, he completed his primary education locally before pursuing various jobs that shaped his work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset.
At the age of 23, he moved to Canada to pursue higher education. While there, he launched his first business in the clothing industry. The success of that venture helped him recognise his entrepreneurial potential and pursue larger opportunities.
At the age of 26, he acquired a licence from Tanzania’s Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA). This milestone laid the foundation for what became Lake Energies, which grew into the cornerstone of the diversified Lake Group.
Through his vision, perseverance and strategic leadership, Lake Group has grown into one of East Africa’s leading private-sector conglomerates. In 2022, he received the “Young Business Leader of the Year” recognition from African Leadership Magazine.
Under his leadership, the Group’s footprint spans 10 countries, with industrial operations contributing to employment and economic empowerment across the region. Beyond business, he is committed to community welfare initiatives and strategic partnerships contributing to sustainable development across East Africa.
